Welcome to KJ’s 48th season! Thank you for your interest in KJ!

We are excited to introduce online registration this year, open to anyone interested in becoming a member of our folklore ensemble. We have options for all who are interested in participating. Simply fill out the form below to indicate which groups you’d like to join.

Our performers range in age from Sr Kindergarten to retired. There is a group for everyone interested. Our tentative group divisions are as follows:

Beginner, Junior and Intermediate

Practises at KW Croatian DOM at 2006 Shantz Station Road

$175 Beginner dance and music (SK to grade 1): Mondays 6:00pm-8:15pm

$250 Junior dance and tambura (Grade 2 to grade 4): Mondays 6:00pm-8:15pm

$250 Intermediate dance and tambura (Grade 5 to grade 8): Mondays 6:00pm-8:15pm

Senior and Adult

Practices on Sunday will be at Mackenzie King School on 51 Natchez Road Kitchener

$350 Senior dance and tambura (Grade 9 to post-secondary): Sundays 6:00pm-8:30pm

$250 Senior dance (post-secondary) & 21+:, Sundays Time TBD

$175 Senior tambura (post-secondary) & 21+: Sundays Time TBD

$175 Adult dance (once every 3 weeks): Sundays Time TBD

$175 Adult tambura/choir/singing: Sundays Time TBD

$275 Adult dance and tambura: Sundays Time TBD

***Please note group divisions is subject to enrollment

Tambura Rental $75

KJ t-shirt (one per performer) $25

Membership Fees

Family membership: ($60) One or two individuals with one or more children in the group.

Individual membership: ($40) Anyone who has registered and has attained 16 years of age.

Student membership: ($30) Any individual, 16 or older, who will be enrolled in a full-time academic program at any secondary or accredited post-secondary educational institution for at least one-half of the annual membership year.

Refundable Fees

Return of Nosnje and Tambura $150 per performer

Bingo Fee (if you work a bingo this fee will be returned) $100 per family/member

Registration changes for this year

For the 2025-2026 year, Kraljica Jelena has amended the following registration details:

  1. Senior tambura is now split into 2 groups:
    • Tambura A: for experienced tambura players, or members moving up from intermediate.
    • Intro to Music: for new seniors with little to no tambura experience, our new program is a great introduction to music theory, singing, and the basics of tambura!
  2. KJ is introducing a Young Adult dance group for dancers aged 21 and over. Members of this group can still dance in the original Senior group as well, if they choose.
  3. A 10% discount will be applied for families with 3 or more children under 18.
  4. Every KJ member is required to join one committee (costume, finance, or fundraising).
  5. All registration must be done prior to our first practice and everyone is required to attend the first practice.
